RAYMOND, Principal. of T H E. Second Session w4P commence on the 9th of January 1852. The Trustees congratulate themselves, their friends and the public, on what they now con sider the permanent establishment of an institu tion of learning of so high a character in their District. The benefits which their own children, with others, have experienced during the past Session, enables them with the greater confi dence, to recommend the Institution to the pat ronnae of the community. The School was opened on the 18th of Sep tember last, with thirty-one Pupils, and has since been gradually increasing. It is confident ly expected that the number in attendance will be greatly increased during the next Session. The Institute building now contains seven rooms, all of which have been built, and are usd, for purposes of Instruction. A fine apparatus; a large collection of Maps; Anatomical Charts, Globes, &c; a IMuseum of Natural History; a Cabinet of Minerals and Shells; furnish unusual facilities for acquiring a practical knowledge of the differeut branches of Science. The course of Study is of an elevated ebarac ter, and more comprehensive, than that of most female institutions of the highest reputation. The PRICIeAL devotes the whole of his time to the super .ision and instruction of the various classes. The Assistants are experienced in their diffe rent Departments, and those only of known sue cess in teaching are employed. The Academical year is divided into Sessions of 14 weeks ecch. It is of great importance that the student be present at the commence ment of the Session. The Classes are then formed, and a few weeks delay may affect the standing of the pupil throughout the year. r~xpenses. Books, Stationary and Music, can be obtained in the Village at reasonable prices. DU00A1L ZP ARTNEN.1 The Department of Music is under the super vision of one of the most accurate and accom- w I plished teachers in the State; and it is believed sol that unusual- facilities are afforded fur acquiring a thorough knowledge of this difficult sciencec. In addition to regular private lessons, the pupils in this department are divided into classes, and taught on the plan of Pestalozzi. They devote much time to exercises, adapted to train the ear. and the voice, arid to impart an I easy and brilliant execution. * T If they pursue the prescribed course of musi cal instruction, they acquire the art of reading T music wiith facility. They are required to be regular and systemat ic in practising daily at the Institute. . A The training and cultivation or the voice, thu receive an .unusual degree of attention. The science of Elocution is here applied, in develop- l~ ing the voice for singing, with great efe'ct. - The Institution has been almost wveekly visited by a large number of the ladies and gentlemen of our village, who have invariably expressed the hiighest degree of satisfaction, at what they have heard and seen of the proficiency of theA Pupils and the arrangement of the Institute. f And the Trustees have only to add in conclu. ean sion, that while in their opinion. there are many Oi" insitutions of learning deservedly popular in our P. State, yet there are none which can furnish So greater or more substantial advantages to young 9ju Ladies than that under the charge of Mr. RAY-A MOND. N. L'. GRtTFFDT. L EDMUND) PENN, 9 S. F.
