THERE will be PUBLIC BARBECUE AND
PIC-NIC given by the citizens in the vicinity of
BETHEL CHURCH, on Tuesday the 2d of
September next.
The spot selected is near Mr. W.DE IaOr.
8TEN's, on the road leading from Edgefield to
Columbia.
Several able speakers are invited to :ddress
the Mecting.
A splendid brass band will be in atLudanCe to
enliven the day.
An abundant table will be spread for as many
as may honor us with their prerence.
The Citizens of this and ~the adjoining Dis
triets,-irrespective of party, are cordia!!y invited
to join with us on this occa;ion.

field, under Capt. MoRAGNE.

Rooms, all of which are approprited to purpo
ses of instruction.
A fine apparatus ; a large collection of Maps;
Anatomical Charts, Globes, &e; a Museum of
Natural 1istory ; a Cabinet of Minerals and
Shells: furnish unusual facilities for acquiring a
practical knowledge of the different branches of
iScience.
Two new Pianos have been purchased in ad
dition to those already in the Institute.
The course of Study is of an elevated charac
ter, and more comprehensive, than that or most
feniale institutions of the highest reputation.
The Paixcrr.L devotes the whole of his time
to the supervision and instruction of the various
Iclaisses.
I The Assistants are eiperienced in their diffe
rent Departments, and thoseonly of known sue

The Aead n-ficl Year is divided into Sessions
of 14 weeks each. It isOf geat importance that
the student be present aktlt& commencement of
the Session. The Classcrire then formed, and

Tuition is charged but from the time of en
tnce to the end of the Sess-on.
Pay ments are to be made at the close of each

In addition to other improvements, which are

exercise in wet weather, and a gymnasium, are

roclamation, offering a reward of FIVE H UN
)RED DOLLARS for the delivery of both, or

f either of them to the Jailor of Barnwell Dis't.
Farmer is about 25 or 28 years old, 5 feet 8
ehes high, well made, fair complexion, blue
-yes, light hair, two of his front teeth slightly
roken off. Has a sear on his cheek, about an
itch and half long, made by the cut of a knife.
Tobin is IS or 19 years old, 5 feet II inches
igh, fair complexion, very little beard, light hair,
rhite teeth, thick lips, well made, and is badley
carred on the right arm and shoulder.
