Stevenson, Esq., we learn that th present amount of capital in this enterprise i 82,560,765, of which one million two hur dred thousand has been paid in. Nashvill and Charleston have subscribed 8300,00( It is expected that seventy miles of road wi be finished during the present year. Th success of this great work will give to th Southern States the carrying trade of th great valley of the West, heretofore monc polized by Northern lines. The report est mates the cost of completing the entire lin from Charleston to Cairo, at the confluene of the Mississippi and Ohio, at less tha fifteen millions dollars against forty-five mi lions-the least cost at which aniy of th Northern cities can approach it-with th ndditionpl. advantage in favor or out city, c 300 miles less distance from the desire point.-Charleston Courier.
