SHERIFF'S SALE. B Y Virtue of sundry writs of Fieri Facias to me directed, I shall proceed to sell at Edgeflel Court House, on the first Monday in January next, the following property in the following cases, viz: Samuel Crarke vs W. B. Clarke, one tract ot land containing by a resurvey one hun dred and eighty acres, more or less, on Sa vannah River, in Beach Island, bounded by lands belonging to James T. Gardner. Dr. M. Galphin, Samuel Clarke and others. Also, a tract of fine land, containing two hundred and sixty acres. more or less, and adjoining lands of John Everett, Win, R obertson, Mrs. Nail and others. Watt & Bowie vs. John Marsh, the tract of land whereon Martha Kimbrell lives, con taining one hundred and sixty acres, more or less, lyng on Horse Creek. Thomas Duffy, vs. Herbert & Duffy, one house and lot in the town of Hamburg, known in the plan of said town as lot No. 133, on Centre Street, having fifty feet front, and run rig back one hundred fifty feet, the above named lot is levied on as the property of the defendants in this case. A nd if any personi or persons requiredi, as aforesaid, to take such oath or affirmation, shall refuse to do so, then the Managers, respectively, inl their respective Election Districts or Parishes, shall be, and they arc hereby, required and en joined to refuse each vote or votes; and in case the Managers shall refuse to require the oath as aforesaid, when demanded, they shall be liable to all the pains and penalties they would be liable and subject to for neglecting other duties required of them as Managers of Elections for either branch of the Legislature. Resolved, That the Act altering the 4th sec tion of the Constitution of the State ot South Carolina be herewith published, to wit : " Every free white man of the age of twenty-one ycars, (paupers and non-commissioned officers and pri vates in the army of the United States excepted,) being a citizen of this State, and having resided therein two years previous to the day of election, andi whol htas a freehold of fifty acres of land, or a town lot, of wvhich the has been legally seized andi possessed at least six months before such eletion; or, not having any such freehold or town lot, has been resident in tlhe eletion district in which he offers to give ihis vote before the election six months, hieshall have a right to vote for a Member or Msembers to serve in either braneh of tile Leg islature for the election district in which lhe holds such property or re'ndence. Resolved, That the two years' residence requi red by the Constitution in a voter arc the two years immediately previous to tho election; but if any person has his home in tihe State, he does not lose the right of residence by temporary ab sence with intention of returning ; and if he has his home in the election district, his right to vote is not impaired by a temporary absence wvith in: tention of returning; but if one has his home and family in another State, the presence of such persons, although continued for~ two years in the State, rives no right to vote. Resolved, That the aforesaid Managers to ad vertise the said electiotn, together wvith these Res olutions, in three or more publie places, in their respective districts and parishes, at every place of election. In all eases where the question of citizenship is to be made, and the Managers are satisfied that there are good grounds for such question, the only evidence that will be received of the fact is the certificate of oitlzenship ; or, where that is lost or mislaid, the certifieate of the Clerk of the Court, where the party was made, taken from the Re cords of the Court.
