MASSACHUSETTS. The following resolutions have passed both Housesofthe .1assachusetts Legisla lure-in.the Senate unanimously. 1tnd- in Ihe House with but'one dissenting, and he lhappened to be a Whig: Resolved: That in the present.posture of the-deliberations of Congreis upon 4the suliject of slavery in the Territories of the 'uion, Massachusetts will fail to. do her duty ifshe-do not agiin utter her senti Inents upon the sublject of those delibiera-, uns. Aesolved, That C6ngress has full power to legislate upon.th'e iliject of slavery in 4the Territories of th.e-Union; that it has 'freely exercisI such power from the adoption of the Consiituti.on- to the present time, and that it is its duty to exercise the power roiihb perpetual exclusion of the lustitutiou from thoie Trritories that are free, ana'for the extinction of 1hc sa:ne in Territories where it exists. Resolved. Tha t when Congress furnis1es -governments for the Territories of Califor n1a and New Mexico, it will be its duty to esthlish therein the fundamental principle of the Ordinance of 1787 upon the subject 'of slavery, to the end <hat the institution nay bo perpetually excluded therefrom, *beyond everychaince and uncertainty. Resolred, T.iat the slave trade ought not to.exist in the District of columbiwa, and it Sthe dutty.of Congress immediatelytu abolish the same. Resolved,' That slavery ought not in exist in the District of Columbia,-and.that it is the duty. of Congress to devise the most just, practicable, and expeditious mode for'nbolishing the same. FIRST DESPATC11. - BALTIMORE, March 10. Since the receipt of the steamer's news Cotton at New York has. advanced. a quarter of a cent. ''he sales onount to 1500 bales, and Lhe dctand biisk. At New York. ont the evening of the 10th, the sales of Cotton had reached 2000 bales, nt prices from one fourth to one half a cent in advance of those previous to the arrival of the steamer. The deceascd was a respectable citiz?n, an affectionate husba*nd and father, a kind mas ter, and a devoted 'chlistian. The, last four years of his life was of great afiction having been smitten with paralysis hi 1844. .He was of highly respectable and pious parents, and though his early life was not that ...ofthe pious,.he had often been seriously impressed with the subject orteligion, and, as he. fond ly hoped, "born again" in 1845, during a precious revival in his neighborhood, when he submitted .to the ordiance of baptist, and attached himself to the Baititt Church of Christ, at Callaham's Mills.
