P FAts iX 4iLIGd.-bnO fact is, that a square form secures more room with a given cost for outside walls,.than any other reletangular figure. . Great length tnd little width tuay aflrd con venient iooms, but ut an increased ex pense. Another fact is, that ventilation Is esstetial in hiuman (1welling. No oilie tonsideiation should exclude this. The halls, Windows, and doors should be so situated with regard to each other, ttI ik (oA draught of air can be secured a Ahy time, in the suninher season, by day and night through the whole house. Th. stories should also be sufficitelly bigh) to affrd a sufficiency oi air in all tit rooms. Nine feet is a good height f1) lower rooms, and eight for uppwr. Bi.1 rooms should also be larger than tlje commonly are, Creat injury to heahl. is the tesult of sleeping in im.d1, clos. spartmets. The 'third fact is, that a steep roof 'will wot only shed rain and snow far !better than a flat one, but will last im niensely longer, The fourth fact is, that a chimney.in or near the centre of the building % ill aid to warm the whole housi, while if built at dne end oa side, tie heat will be thrown out and lost. The fifth fact is, that a door opening from the outside into any principal roo. without the intervention of a hall or .passage, costs much more than it saves, in the free ingless of air into it. 'jie sixth fact is, that the use of paint is the best ecodiimy, in the preservation it affords to all wood vork. The seventh fact is, that if the front door is made at one side instead of the middle of the front, a portion will be saved, and foi small houses this should noj be forgotton, but for large houses thave the main door and Jobby in the middle of the house. A small quantity of tea seed was brought out by him in the steamer Britannia which was ieceived ii, London over land from the North-west provin ces of 1ndia. , We understand the- Doc tor designs to proceed soon to the South, with a view-of fotming a plantation. From the fact that no fire had been used aboeut the premises in a fortnight, there can be no doubt that it was the wrork of an in cendiary. Thanks to the high moral character of our population such events are of rare occurrence and we did not think that one man, could have been in the ijistrict degraded ennugh to pet p trete so black a crime. RESULTs OF ASSoCecATtoN.-A single man can erect a hovel which will bately shelter him, A number of men, conm bining theit efforts, can build a comufor table dwelling; and we have onuly to extent the principle of a'ssociation to produce vast palace s, suitable for every purpose of social life. Odd Fellows' Hall affords a magnificent place of meet ing foc thousands of Odd Fellows. There is more Idbor antd wealth wasti d every year, in the present ordet of things, tlan would suffice to make us all tolerable rich. There is an infinite waste 'n trying to get along without association It is just such waste as there Would be if we should hurn all the steamboats, and a hundred thousand people should paddle tip atnd down the Hudson, each in his own ca noe. To be sure, such a mode of nav igiton would be very independent, and secuie men from coming in contact with dis-igreeble persons, and all that ; but as we have tried the steamboat and got along pietty well, we may be excused for preferring it.-N.
