Sept 27 . 36 IMPORTANT INDIAN TnEATY-FCU att..oNs ...:%s ACQUIRED.--Williai Aledill, su. . intent of Indian affair; through this city, last night, havin bought out all the right of the Nenomi nee Indians in the ten itov of Wiscon sin, whereby the United' States hav acquired the title to 4,000,000 acres u new territory in Wisconsin, embracin land on the Fox and Wiscun-in rivcrs and laid down in the recent maps a parts of Brown, Portage and Wisconsii counties. It etmbtaces Little and Die Bull Falls, Whitney's 31;1ls, &c. &r. Sotte, years aLo Congress granteu tc Wisconsin the alterna te sectitins to com, plete a canal between the Fix and Wis consin rivets. The canal could not b, made because the Indians owned much of the lamd, it has nowr bee:n bought and, two days after the making of the tteatV, two hundied squatters had laid theil el.ims. The land is verv rich and val--ble. Several attempts have been made to treat with this very old and once powei ful tribe of Indians, of which O>h-ko>k is chief. lie is connected n ith some of the wealthiest and most influential citi zens of the N:ssissippi on the Crow. wing R:ver, near whte the Winneha gnes r,ow are, and on lands which the Government bought of the Chippewas. The treaty is a very fair one for boi'i p.trtios. The Indians get about $300, 000; and, out of this, a specific sum is apart for a manual labor school, a grist mill, blark-smitt's shop, ttd the support of a miller for fifteen years. The Indi amis removo themselves, and thus save those swindling operations which are gone into by contractors in their remo val.
