Dr. G.Kl. T'iv.a.--Dear Sir.-It is with great pleasure that l annoutnce to you a perfect restortiorai of nmy heash by the ::se of your in valable pills. I had been snifering from Chill and Fevers for eighteen or twenty mnonthas, during which time I took five bottles of Rlow. aid's Tonic Mixture, Dr. Sherman's Fever and A gie Luozenges, Dr. Love's Vegetable Elixir, Keener's Powders, lDarlds, Quimne, Thompso. nin Medlicine~s, Arsenic, lerbs, and mn tct almot all ;he popular remedies I could hear of; aid yet reczeaved no lasting bentefit. .The ch'ills were stopped by Quinine and oilher thiings, but after a lihw days or wveeks they would return again, as had or wvorse.thani before Tonwards ;the last the chillr. cinte only every third day, and these were followed by fever of such se verity as to affect mny reasun and it was found ncssarv for some one to watcth with mc tun til the pnaroxysm passed off. At lat I procn red a box1 of yotur pitis, atnd otnly took fatur of thtem; th so cotmpletely stopped the chills, that I tave never had ai returnl of them up to this time, (nearly two years) and tnear a year of this tme wias passed in the same place where I first caught the diseiae. That maiy case is notone cured by chance is proven fro'm the far~t that four pills out of the same box acured Capt. Reuben Banks, so ef fectually that lie has niever land the dimense aimee. whereas before he often suaflered from it. T wo other person-were also cured by the contents of this same box1, and they naeithear of them have aad a return of it although they bcth resadc where thiei are exposed every season. I know aieveral others who have baen curedl by yuir pills, but it'is titnecessary to detail their cases. The best certificates of their eici ency in Chills and Fever, will be a few doses, and if-they are as beneficial to others as they have been to me they-may be truly called a pub. ic blessing. HE Proprietor, many years ago,.while L searching for a remedy for his own ill tlth which the prescription of the day had ed to benefit, to hit upon the composition of se Pills, and they proved entirely successful restoring his health. Their composition s freely communicated to many Physicians, I it was not the design of the Inventor that y should extend beyond the private practice himself, and that of his medical friends. Ap cations for them. however, began to multi , and he was advised by many of his profes nal brethren, und'other gentlemen;.ofchar er and distinction, to prepare a quantity of m and place them in the hands of an apo cary. Even this seemed insufficient, and he is urged to send them, by means of agencies, oughout the country. Calomel had long n a comm in domestic remedy. There was ircely a family in-which a sial of it was not be found, and in which it was not used with legree of freedom from which a well inform 'hysician should shrink. A strange infatu on too seemed to exist among many of the culty. Hardly a case was prescribed for tether acute or chrontc, in which calomel i not given, in some stage of the disease, thout fear or reflection; and thousands are II suffering from its pernicioiis elTects. Cal iel is, without doubt, a most valuable medi t, and in some cases may be regarded as sential, but it should not be stricken from the tofdomestic remedies, and be administered ly under the prudent and judicious advice a thoughtful Physician. Upon tial, by many ysicians and others, these Pills were found be a substitute for mercurial preparations in large number of cases, and hence their popn rity, and the large demand for them. The a ofobtaining a-Patent for them was never itertained, nor has it been sought to this day. was believed that by giving them a popular rot and dirculating them through the country, ousands would be benefitted by their use, o would. otherwise, never hear of the pres. iption and never learn that a preparation had en componnded which rendered the indis iminate and pernicious use of calomel un. cessnry. 'These were some of the induce' nts which led the Inventor of the Pills to consent that they should become an object of tblic sale : None are genuine without the signature of JNO, BECKWITH, Ml. D.
