That after the oraanizatiOn of the Re
giment a system of Con-pany drill will :i.
commenced, to be conducted under the
general direction and superintendence of
the Adjutant and Inspector General, but
not to exceed ane drill per week for each
Company..
The Companies to compose the Regi
meet be -or Infantry, therefore Riflemen
volutrteering must signify their willingness
to enter that arm of the service; and no
company will be withdrawn from its dis
tirct until tbe Regiment is ordered out and
concentrated for the purpose of being m.ue
tered ainte service.
The 3d and 4th section of the Act of
Congress, providing for the prosecution of
the war between the United States and
Mexico, contain important information,
and are therefore annexed.

the said volunteers shall furnish their own
clothes, and when mustered into service
shall be armed at the expense of the Uni
ted States.
Sec. 4. And be it further enaeted, That
said volunteers shall, when called into ac
five service, and while remaining therein,
besubject tothe rules and articles of war,
and shall be ia al .respects, except as to
clothing and pay, placed on the same foot
ing with similar corps o( the U. S. Army,
and in lieu of clotbing, every non-com
mi:sioned officer and private in any Con
pany who may thus offer himself, shall be
entitled when called into actual service,
to receive in money a sum equal to the
cost of clothing of a non-commissioned
officer or private (as the case may be,) in
the regular troops of the United St ates."
