('JAYNE'S TONIC VERMIFUGE. -This Vermifuge is perfectly'safo. and so pleasant that children will not refuse to take it. , It effectually destroys WORMS, neutralises acidity or soreness of the stom ach, increases appetite, and acts as a gen rat or permanent Tunic, and is therefore exceedingly beneficial in intermittent and remittent Fevers, Indigestion. &e.. and is .alnnst a certain cure for FEVER and AGUE, and what is of more importance, it does it permanently. It not only destroys Worms. and invig orates the whole system, but it dissolves and carries off the super abundant slime or mucus, so prevalent in the stomach and bowels of children, more especially of those in bad health. This mucus forms the bed, or nest, in which worms produce their young, and by removing it, it is impossible for worms to remain in the body. It is harmless in its effects on the sys. tem, and the health of the patient is al ways improved by its use, even when no worms are discovered. Numerous certifi cates of its usefulness have been received, which the Proprietoi- does not consider ne cessary to publish ; yet to give the reader an idea of its Vermifuge powers, he will mention a few cases. tie gave it to his little nephew, not four years old. and in a fewdays he discharged upwards of ninety large wortns. He also gave it to his daugh ter, then about three years old when it brought away thirty worms in tne night. Josiah Thompson near Salem, N. J., administered this Vermifuge to a child be tween two and three years old. and says that in a few days, she discharged one hundred and thirty seven large worms ! Mr. Joseph A. Lentz oh the Penn Town ship S'avings Institution, in this city, gave it to one of his children, and says that after the sixth dose, it brought a way about fifty worms at once. five and six in'ches long. Mr. Ferdinand Woodruff u ed two hot ties of this Vermifuge for Dyspepeia, and in the course of two weeks discharged up wards or thirty pieces of Tape Worm, and was thereby perfectly eured. Another gentleman of this city had it ,ad ministered to his daughter, about three years old, when she had a number of dI charges from her bowels. coanpos ed en tirely of little white thread icormo. I, W IL LIAnt A IKEN, Governor and Commander-in-Chiefof the State of South Carolinta, do issue this my Proclamation, calling tupon the citizens thereof, to come forward and enrol themselves in the ser vice of their country. Congress has authorized the organiza tioo of Fifty Thousand Volunteers to serve for twelve months, atnd the privilege is now accorded to the people of this State, to furnish their proportion of the defenders of our country. Where every consideration of duty and pat riotism calls so loudly upon the citi zens of our republic, the Executive is as sured that there needs tio appeal from him to stimulate the hearts of his countrymen. Our gallant army on the Rio Grande, embarrassed for a time by vastly superior numbers and the craft of the enemy, have signally vindicated the honor of the coun try, and the reputation of our artms by re cent victories, which tank with tbe hi~h est achievements of modern times. The enthmiiasm of our sister States has poured out thousands of brave men to their aid, but our country still calls for moure to carry out this war to a safe and honorable conclusion, and the Governor, in compli ance with the requirement made upons ham, calls upon his fellow-citizens to rally a round the st andard of our country, and en rol :hem selves in her defence.
