A DELINQUENT SUBSCRIBER'S SOLI
LOQUY.
Yes, it is so! two years haveflown,
Since first I took my paper.;
Time scarcely comes ere at is gone,
Like transient blaze oftaper.
Could I keep pace with his career,
(Though e'er so transitory.)
And pay my printer's bills, each year,
'Twere not so sad a story.
But tiow, near twice twelve tnontli, I find
Th.e printers hitve been drilling
And dunning negligence like mine,
And I've no; paid a shilling.
The bill is now five dollars-near
It grieves me much to think it,
When I bavespent twice that, each year,
For many a useless trinket.
Alas! now could 1 wrong the man,
Who long had sent me weekly,
So rich a treasure? and who can
Endure such treatment meekly ?
Of late I've suffered much from fear,
And mental perturbation,
Lest I should see my name appear
In black list publication.
But thanks to Providence, most kind,
And printer's long forbearance,
I now will ease my troubled mind,
By paying off my clearance.
There's left me now-ah. let me see,
From wages orlast winter,
Only a solitary V,
And that shall pay the printer.
My negligence in time that's past,
I hope he'll not think hard on,
For I will pay him well at last,
And humbly beg his pardon.
From the Glascowo(Scotlend;) Chartist Circular.
THE POOR MAN'S WEDDING.
I wed thee, girl, as poor maen wed,
To share a lot of toil and care,
To gems will deck our bridal bed,
But Love will strew his roses there.
No cringing slaves, no menial throng,
Will seek our nuptial hovel's thatch;
No steeds will bear its swift along
For ours is not a Coburg* match !
I did not seek thee for thy gold,
For wealth thy fancy might bestow;
My love was not a feeling sold,
For e'en as I an, poor art thou.
I wooed not with a tongue to wish;
The lust of Mainmon lent no art;
I do not wed thee to be rich
For mine is not a Coburg heart!
Thou dost not take me.to thy arms,
By State necessity impelled,
While condescension yields thy charms,
To be with humble reverence held.
I choose thee my poor lot to cheer,
To shed a radiance o'er my life,
And not to frgwn or domineer
For mine is not a Coburg wife.
When thine the pleasing hope shall give
That soon a pledge will bless our love,
That in another we shall live
Another prized ourselves above
No Court physician will be feed
(Puffed in the public prints) to watch,
Lest some mishap should spoil the breed
For ours is not a Coburg match!
And when our infant's cry is heard
Sweet music to a parent's ear
No flattery foul, no pomp absurd.
Will greet the little stranger here.
The public money will noit keep
Our habe, by priincely titles styled!
Peers will not rock that babe to sleep
For ours will be no Coburg child !
*Oh, no! our union will niot bear
The seal of interest-stamp of shatme!
But yet our lot wvill be more lair
Than those wh~o boast a highter name.
For to unite us two, at least,
No grouning people sighs and smarts!
No nation's taxes spreads our feast
* ~ For ours, luve, are inot Royat hearts!

husband.
