April 5 31n 10 ALUM SPRING PILLS. rOa Tur.iua ov Dyspepsia, Scrofulous and Chronig Lirter Diseasrs. T H ESE. Pill are prepared by Dr. S. R. Campbell. from the water or, he highly celebrated Mineral Springs, in Rockbridge county Va., called :he Alum Springj. These waiors in- their ef'ects upon the system are tonic. increwsing ihe appetite. and promoting diglstion, they are nhernative. exciting the secreiins o' the glandular systern gencrally. and par ticular or the Jiver and kidneyA; they are cathartie, producing cupious, dark, billions evaeon tions; and they also effect a determination sv t:e surface, inreasing the perspiration. From the combnatioa of all ahese eiTeet upon I he systern, they are a great purier of* the blood, nrid equalizer of the eireoTr tion. The effect of the Pills, made from these waters, are in all respects, siminlar to the water itself, and each pill is equal to a conman glass of water. For she cre of fhe above diseases, and all other chronic (or slow) disease.. presaverance in tile use of these Pills, according to the directions gi% en in the small 6t1^, iscompanying the pills, is all importadit; and irthey are per verm:;iy used as directed, a cure may he more certainly expected, than under any titner treatncot heretafore discovered, ex cept from the use.of the watcr, from which they are prepared tither by an attendance at ihe Springs or otherwise. They very speedily cure diarrhwas attended with acidi;y of lhe stomach. and what is com manly called heart-burn; two or three pills may be taken at any time, when the stom ach is troubled with acidity, with the hap prst eFect. These Pills have an excel ect effect in preventing the attacks of nervous or sick-headache; from three to six pills should be taken at once, when the symptoms are felt. These waters are do effectual remedy for all hemorrhages; and as the Pills have the same effect in otil,er eases, it is believed they will also have the same effect in cases of hemorrhage. They cure dropeies in some cases, but are not an infalible remedy in all cases of ibis disease. From the efficaey of these waters 4id pili in purifying t'he blood, they are ;n valuable in she cure orall diseases or the skin, and all indolent sores, nor disposed to a healtby action. In the use of them for such diseases. if rho disease of the skin appears to be rietated at firt, or if the ulcer- become more iuflamed and discharge more freely, het not thicircumstauoe alarm any one, or deter him from peri6eriug in their use. These are evideness of gho good effecls of the Pills in expelling the sitiatod humors from the blood to tho surface. and until the blood is parifled, such disease cannot be cured. In sernu lone ulcers, the use of these waters and pills, invariably cause them to discharge more freely, and in a short time, of a more healthy appearance. They are a very usceful remedy in Cholera Infantum or ho summer bovel complaint in children : as also for expelling worms frot children. They imnmediately give a good appetIte, promote digestion, and will effectually correct and cure acidity of the stomach. From their cleansing and purifying effects upon the 'olood; and from the tone, vigor and energy, whscb their operation imparts to the n hole sys~etm they will he fuund a great preventative.of the fevers, which psresail in low and unhealhby regions ; hence, personw living in such regtions, wil find Is greatly to their aidvantage to use uhe pills, fur a fortuightr, at the coimmeace menit of every spring eud fall season, as a preventative, and tohuibil up constitutions b~roken down by previous attacks of (ever. These waters aind pills are wornby of ite notice of the Mledical Focul:y : anad in th~cir hands would be a valuable article ins he t reatment of many diseases, otherwiso unmanageable. Inamenorrnsea, dysmen- - orrhea and lsachorrhtea.. the wagers of the Alum Springs are peculiarly effecacios; sud we believe the pills made from these waters, would have the same effectin the 'reatwent of those diseases, that the water 'as; therefore, we would recommend a rial of them, by the.Faculty, in those die ases.
