ing Season at the Plantation of Capt. Ws.
B.MaTs, four miles south of Edgelield C.
H.. on the Augusta Road. He will be let
to Mares at $15 the'single visit; 825 the
season ; and 035 toiosre; and half a duol
Iar to the Groomin every instance. The
money oran "roved note payable the
15th of Decebiner nest, must be sent with
each Mare. or she will not be served.
Good pasturage will be provided, and
Mares fed on.;rain at a reasonable price,
and servants'boarded gratis.
A club of five Mar'es shall be entitled 'to
their season at $20 c&iCh Mare, aud should
they prove not in foal, they shalleave the
beuefit-of themFall Season gratis. Every
care will-be tAken of the Mates and their
foals,'but aoliabiliuies will be incurred.fur
edeapes or adcidents. A discuuut of ten
'per cent will be alld-Wed on all monies
paid at the tino of putting the Mae.
The Season will commence on the first
of February, and end on the last of Aune.

out white, except a stat, fifteen hands and
'tlfree quarters high ; possessed of uncom
uton bone and muscle, and a form com
biuing with perfect symmietry, every es

years old, having been foaled in Maryland

The performances of ARGYLE upon
the Turf, have placed him in the very first
rank of Americaq, Iurses as a Racer,
while ihse of his got ei.title him to Ain
equal standing as a Stallion. lie sta'rted
Ert at -Ornngeburg. S. C., in 'Jan.134,
and ran at larnwell, Augusta, lacon,
Columbia and Charleston, two, airee and
four miles heats, winning successively 8
races five of them of four mile beats, beat
ing Patsy Wallace, Ranktnake.(3 times)
Lucy Ashlou, Iushlighi, -Bertrand, junior,
(twice) Nertumus, &c. &c. 'lie never
lost a heat, and -was rarely if ever put up
to his speed, until his eatraordinary defeat
by John Bascombe. in April, 183, the
circumnstnces of % hie'h are I'auiliar to ev
ery one. Subsequently be was trained
and run with great success in Virginia;
and in May last on the Central Course at
Baltimore, after runtuing for the first heat
of thlm miles, and losing it by a laead in 5
miuues 4 w.toends, le non the second heat
in 5 minutes, 40 seconds, being the best
secoud heat of three nOles recorded in 'he
American Turf, and the snoit brilliant per
formance or a year surpassing all ;ghers in
the richness of its annels. During the
s;.me week, and on the same course, one
of his daugters, Kate Seaton, won the
.great sweepstakesof $1000, beating a fine
field witi great ease; such a coincidence
being hitherto unknown upon the Turf.
ARGYLE stood but one season and to
