Care fur Pies and Cataract-Mr.John
J. McCatighan, of Mississippi. has corn
mntaicated to aLe American Farmer, the
rollowia remedies for Piles and Cataract.
The first, Whave beard recommended on
several occhsions before, as being a very
efficacious- remedy; but we approlbend
that McG. has misapprehended the dis
ease generally designating cataract of the
eye or confounded It with siomoatherand
we therefore infer that his remedy applies
only to those diseases of the eye where
some excreseente has grown on the out
side of the eye hall.
Cure forMe Pies.--Carrying the coom
mon bock-eye in the pantaloons' pocket,
will cure the pilab or any other inflamma
tion abaut the aus. 1-cannot give a rea
son for it, bt it is nevetbeless certain

Care for the Cataract in the Eye.-Tbe
root of the weed commonly called the de
vil's shoestring, soaked in water and used
as a wash, will cut the film (called cata
ract) of the oyesof mn or beast, Wioref
reetually than the surgeon's knire, without
pain, risk or apprehension."
