Clark and James Owen, were choppitg cord wo d. abont two niles from the centre of that village, on what is called the old Hitch hurn road, they were suddenly attacked by four large bears, and melancholy to relate, Mr. Owen was killed in the encounter by being squeezed to death by one of the hears.
