storm quite equal to the modern tornadofc.
About 10 o'clock the wind
began to blow heavy, and about 1
o'clock a thunder cloud came from
the weat and the rain pourd down
in torrents and t.'^wind blew with
groat fury until aliet three o'clock.
On yesterday morning the wreck,
from the storm, wjw spread out in
great plenty. The large carriage and
wagon shop of Mr. James B. Moore
wa# blown flat to the ground; two
small houses and chimneys were blown
down; The top of the chimney to Jos.
Todd's store, from the roof up, was
blown oft. Fences generally were
prostrated and large limbs of trees
were twisted and snapped ofl. The
heavy winds seemed to have gone in
small streaks and they not very far
apjirt.

We find the Courthouse in good
condition, except, from the stain on

and remedied before further damage is
done.
