A Charleston correspondent of the Columbia Uniou-lTcrald gives tho following account of the spoils of tho school fund in Charleston. We guess tho same remarks will apply generally, and where the fund ia not directly' i T11 IS " v m _ . .i.1'1"". 11 made a j>ri/e 1 t?r plunder it is liiltcie I a w ay on incompetent U achcrs, through the management ot deplora bly more incompetent School Commissioners. The grand jury has lit into a very nest of corruption in regard to hands on the school Intnl. I do not think I there will ho any convictions. The ring is small, but it is very complete. Not a school teacher gets paid the face I oi the oortilieate, The whole are forced to sell to some one in the ring, and tho county treasurer pays out in half an hour the wlnde proceeds ol the state and local taxes. There is more love expressed lor the school iund by our politicians than beany other. No one must lay a prolane hand to reduce the levy for schools. It is tho hope of our race. No wonder that they love it. No kind ot frauds have been so ex tensive and so hold as upon the school fund. It. is safe to say that a third ol the so-called teachers do not render an equivalent to the amout of one-thenlli ot the sum received by tliein. The fund in this county has always been shamefully robbed, and never more shamefully than locently. The political irauds who have been put down as teachers have depleted it m one place, while the detestable t.allic in teachers' pay orders, connived at by the school and treasury officials, hps disheartened those teachers who are really capable and earnest workers. Aluy the grand jury bag tho rascals, from the highest to the lowest, is the sincere prayer ol yours, truly. Trouble, Trouble, lloil and Hubble.' Augusta, .1 uly '27.
