while in Captain Gilberts Held ul Lucas
Lay, where they were employed minding
out birds, a dispute arose between
them as to tho ownership of a gun
their father had bought the Saturday
before, and which they had with them
in the field, when the largest boy
caught tho guu by the muz/el and
tried to jerk it front the hands of the
smaller one, who held on to the breech,
the guu was tired oft* and the whole
contents entering the body of the
largest boy lie died almost instantly.

ry Moses, and his surilies on official

This was for internal revenues collected
by him, immediately after the
war, when ihe cotton tux was collected,
and spirits of turpentine paid $3
per barrel and rosin 50 cents per barrel.

content with making an advcuuie grab
on the cotton and naval store tax, also
swindled his aub-collootors out of their

that Governor Chamberlain pledged
his honor to our delegation when he
