The Legislature rescinded its resolu*
lion to adjourn on lh? 23d nit., and
took a recess to the Oih of tins month.
The Milleritcs predict the world ill
come to an end this month. Thin
holds out a faint hope that should
that interesting event take place the
h Legislature may adjourn, thbugh it is
more than likely some member will
move tor a recess, so as to use their
free pass over the road.
Tax Cou.kctions, and Pknai.ty.?
The whole tax, State and County,
collected in this county, up to Inst
night, amounts to $13,000. This
leaves $2,553.30, balance of the assessment
of $21,553.30, yet unpaid.
The penalty of 20 per cent, will go
on to-day. The County Auditor also
has instructions from the Comptroller
General to add the 20 per cent, penalty
\ on all taxes, not paid, where State
bills have been tendered in payment.
There will now be alx>ut thirty days
in which the tax with penalty may he
paid, after which executions will In*
issued.

We know that it is a busy
