Local School Tax.?The citizens of
this (Cotnvayboro) School District in
their annual meeting held on last Saturday,
levied noTocal lax in support ol
the public schools. So far we havo not
heard that a local lax has been levied
in any of the school districts in this
county.
We do not believe that the tax-payers
of this county, as a general thing,
are opposed to free schools. On the
contrary, we believe they would cheerfully

As the iatal disease prevailing
among the hogs in the upper portion i
of the count;/ inay be a kindred to hog
cholera, we are glad to find in the last
issue of the (Idarion) Merchavt arid
Fanner the following remedy for that
disease, and would advise our fricuds
who may have sick hogs to try it on
them.
Hog Cholera. Remedy.?In response
to the inquiry of Granger iu
our last issue, the following has been
handed us as a positive and never failing
cure for hog cholera:
'fake J pound salt peter and 1
pound ol prepared mustard, pulverize
and mil well together in 1 bushel of
bran or meal, and fyed to hogs. This
quantity is Bufticient for 100 head ot
stock. Ol course it is only necessary
to obserye the same proportion iu proparing
the mixture for any number.
If the hogs refuse to eat, force it down
their throats with stick or paddle.
