Not to he Caught 'lu lee,
A c;ood story is told of a German,
by tli name ol Schmidt, who had taken
the pteeaution to insure the lit of his
wife tor 60,000, and the stable for

In a few months after the stable had
been insured, it was destroyed by tire.
Sehnidt quietly notified the agent, and

'I !?o agent at once sent a carpenter

The agent then notified Schmidt that

khmidt became very indignant at the

The agent reasoned with Schmidt

When the stable was about finished,
lebmidt went to consult a lawyer,
hinking that lie could still get the
mount of the policy, besides having

A Littlis Ai>viok to Farmers.?
Help your wives in every way you
can, trivial though it may seem to
you. For instance, keep an extra
pair ot shoes or slippers in the hail or
entry, and always remember to change
your dirty hoots hetore entering tlu
clean rooms. Then you may be sure of
a smile of welcome, as no dirt^will ho
left alter you to clean up. In the
( veiling comb your hair as carefully as
ever you did in your courting days,
put on a clean coat or dressing-gown
and when you take your paper to read,
do not read it to yourself and leave

happier, and being a farmer's or a
mechanic's wile will not be such a
dreadful tiresome and lonely life as
many girls have every reason to think
it is.
