occurred on Simpson's Creek, in
this county, on Friday, tho 8th ilist,
in which K. 1). Richardson shot and
instantly killed Isaac McKae, a colored
man. As near as wo can get at
the circumstances and causes that led
to tlie killing, both parties claimed a
cirtain piece of land; Richardson had
cleared and cultivated it the past three
or four years, ami had planted and
cultivated this year, Some time this
spring a difficulty arose between them
as to owncrshsp, and each party
went before a Trial Justice, who granted
warrants for trespass. On the day
of the killing Isaac McKae, with two
of his daughters and a son nearly
grown, went into the Held, taking
with them an ox-cart, and commenced
gathering the com. Richardson
taking his gun with him went
into the field .vhcrethey were at work,
ami ordered the boy to drive his cart
out. The old man ordered the son to

the corn was his, and he intended to
gather it, ami liichardsou might help
himself if lie eon hi. Whereupon l iichardsou
immediately shot him, wit hout
ho much as raising the gun to Ids lace.
The whole charge with the wad entered
the left side of the man at the
point ol the short ribs, lie walked a
few steps and fell dead.
Mr. liichardsou did not wait for the
verdict of the inquest, but went oil'
and has not yet been arrested. We
learn that he says he will he present
at court to stand his trial.
