.charge to the (hand Jury was givcti
in his usual clear and forcible style.
The bill ol indictment in the case of
the State against W. II. Ponton, Indicted
lor murder, was given out to the
jury, and a true bill returned. The
prisoner was brought to .the bar and
arraigned, and upon ids arraignment
pleaded not, guilt y. The time for the
hearing of this was fixed to Wednesday

of the Petit Jurys The business

.disposed of up to adjournment on
Tuesday night.:
The State vs. Jefferson Core ami
Coorgo Jvirton (colored), grand larceny,
verdict guilty. The charge was

made tobacco from J. C. Blanton. The
senlance of the Court was six months
imprisonment in the Penitentiary at
liard labor.
The State vs. (liibert Strickland
(colored), petit larceny?offense stealing
tbfee sheep; verdict guilty; sentaneed
to four months' confinement in
the Penitentiary at hard labor.
The State vs. Pater Moore (colored),
.convicted at. last term of court on indictment
for bigamy; sentanced to six
mouths confinement in the Peniten-*lfckry
at. liaid labor.
The State vs. Nelsoji Buck (colored),
assault and battery with intent to
kill; verdict guilty of assault only.;
Hcntaucc to pay Jive .dollars and costs,

victuals from spoiling, at which
