Bad on Cotton.?The efleet of the late heavy rains on the cotton crop in his county has been to run it too much to stalk, causing it to boll verv scattering. Much of it is water soake.l, causing the forms to drop and the rust to set ill. Many persons think that their crops will fall short one-fourth ol what their expectation was a mouth ago. It is hoped that backward crops where the ground can be worked will yet come out, and do well before Irost. Tiiiuty Days roit ?'2.10.?John S. Springs, formerly of Bladen county, X. C., but for the past few months a day laborer living in Green Sea townwhip, was charged before Trial-Justice Alva Knzor with stealing ?2.10 in cash lrom Benjamin Holt, Jr. The hearing of the case before the Trial-Justice Inst Monday resulted in his conviction, and sentance to pay a fine of ?11, or be imprisoned thirty days in jail. Duck, proprietor of the Waccnmaw btcam fnw Mtlis, was in town this week, and informs us that prime timber is now very much wanted by mill owners, lie is now paying 10 to 13 cents per foot, cash, for all the really good timber he car? get. Poor timl>er is not wanted at any price. There is 110 danger of the supply exceeding the demand, ami no doubt bnt the present., or Setter pi-ices will be maintained all winter. In the present scarcity ot money, owing in a great measure to the low price of turpentine, this cash demand and rise in the timber market will he a Clod send to many of the people in this and the adjoining counties, and we havo no doubt but this bright streak of sunshine will be taken advantage of by the hard laboring men on the Waocamaw, Pec l>cos and by neb's Creek and turned to a good account. Many suffer rather than take nauseous niediciens. All who suffer from coughs, colds, irritation ot the bronchial tubes or tendency to consumption, will find in Dr. WistaPs balsam of wild cherry a remedy as agreeable to the palate as effectual in removing disease. The balsam is a pleasant remedy; it is a safe remedy; it is a powerful remedy; it is a speedy remedy; it is a remedy that cures. ? . . . .M. ?
