Hon. W. L. Daniels of Greenwood
was in the city Tuesday looking
over the records in the clerk's
office. Mr. Daniels has rcently mov
ed to Greenwood and is a| new visitor
around the Court House.
Little Margaret Culbreth is having
just a r little more than her
share ^f trouble this week. She has
ai} attack of flu and this is keeping
her away from school for a few
days which in turn will take her' oft
the honor roll.

student at the Confederate Home
College in Charleston, was in attendance
on the meeting of the
! Daughters of the Confederacy in
Greenwood last week and spent
over Sunday with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Edwin Parker, before returning
to her studies.

j The furnace at the Associate
I Reformed church has been gone
j over and is in fine order now which
insures plenty of heat for church
goers during the winter. Mr. Ralph
Turner made a good job of it.

J getting ready for orchard work
and wants every one who intends
to order fruit trees to communicate
with him this week. Many or*
chards are being planted in the
1 county and trees can be secured at
* greatly reduced rates if a large order

will be in the county soon and will
demonstrate the correct method of
setting out and pruning trees.

Decmber 26th at Lebanon Presbyterian

Mr. Williams number their friends

Mrs. F. W. Wilson, who has been

. sveral years, has resigned and the

regret. Tuesday afternoon Mrs. P.
A. Cheatham was elected president.
The delegates who attended the
State Convention of the U. D. C.,
in Greenwood last week gave a
glowing account of the meeting.
After the business was over Mrs.
Cason served sandwiches and tea.

pleasant party of young people to
her home for Friday afternoon, the
party (being: a compliment- to Her
sister, Miss Nona Barksdale and to
Mrs. Herman Dugan.
THE MERRLE MATRONS
The Merrie Matrons met with
Miss Mary Smith Tuesday afternoon
and as this was her first party
after a' long absence from home,
the occasion was unusually pleasant.
Only, the members of the club
were entertained which made a
congenial party of three tables.
Mrs. J. Allen Smith and Mrs. Maxwell
Smith assisted in the entertaining.
After the games a 'delightful
salad course with coffee was served.

having as her guests the younger
married set who mak? up the "Ace
of Clubs." There were thre'e
tables of players and after the
games Mrs. Graves served a luncheon
of chickert a la King in timbales,
a jelly salad, sandwiches,
crackers and hot chocolate.
The house was prettily decorated
for the occasion in Christmas holly
and candles and the tally cards also
conveyed the Christmas spirit.
FOR MUSS SARAH GIBERT
Mrs. J. S. Cochran entertained at
a lovely rook party Tuesday night
at her home on South Main street,
the party being a compliment to
Miss Sarah Gibert. The house was
gay in decorations of pot plants and
ferns and when the place cards of
lovely red hearts, were drawn each
one contained a single word, which
read together, conveyed the news
of the approaching marriage of
Miss Gibert and Mr. James Gillispie
Williams. This was pleasant news
and the young people showered
Miss Gibert with their good wishes.
Rook was enjoyed and after the
games- Mrs. Cochran presented the
bride' with a dainty piece of
lingerie.
Refreshments of sandwiches and
hot chocolate were served. This
was one of the delightful affairs of
the week.
FOR MISS HASKELL
Miss Susie Mabry gave a lovely
party Tuesday afternoon at her
home on Chestnut Avenue in honor
of Miss Kate Haskell whose marriage
to Prof. A. R. Smith will
take place on December 21st. Miss
Mabry had in^ted the friends of
the young bride, making a congenial
party of twelve. Bridge was
enjoyed at the three tables.
The decorations were in the holiday
colors, red carnations and holly
heing used. The place cards were
dainty little green and red baskets
filled with parched nuts, with the
name of the player on a red heart,
tied to the basket handle with
maline bows. At the head table a
doll bride and groom designated
the seat of honor which Miss Haskell
occupied throughout the afternoon.

Meadows as published in our last
issue, we are informed that we
were in error in stating that the
bride-to-be is a siste'r >of Mrs.
Frank Andrews. Miss Meadows was
reared in the same town as Mrs.
Andrews and has visited her hete,
