'I GETTING BUSINESS STARTED.
] Some evenings ago a good piece of
work started on Greenville Street
when Col. C. E. Williamson invited
in a few friends to take care of a
possum and accessories which he had
gathered in. He not only enabled a
few lords of creation, a little worse
for wear, to spend an enjoyable evening,
but he seems to have set in |
motion a train of events which give'
promise of other good things.
We say so for tne reason that we
k heard two threats uttered yesterday.
Col. Bill Wilson, who is always a
prominent man whether on Greenville
Street or elsewhere, asked us
t about the price of turkeys. When we
frtold him that we had not been able
J even to ask the price the present fall
Ihe swore a migrhty oat"h, declaring.
along with it that "I am going to!
ihave one of them, I don't care what,
jit costs, and I am going to eat it.
.jt00-" _ ^
,j We were still wondering just* the
, date the threat would be succeeded
,|by the act when Col. T. G. White, a
t mighty man amongst mighty men,
, came along and said, with business
in his voice too, "If it keeps getting
cold I am going to kill a possum one
. of these nights."
1 Well, Kerr's sale, the society event
of Greenville street this week, will
be over Saturday night. Then any.
' gentleman who seems so inclined can
shoot.

Great interest has been croated (
