morning was that C. J. Bruce had
"caught a job" at the S. A. L. railroad
Shops. Mr. Bruce has been U.
S. Deputy Marshall for years, with
headquarters in Greenville.
PREACHING AT LEBANON
There will be preaching at Lebanon
next Sunday, Nov. 11th by Rev.
H. C. Fennell. Services will be held
at &:30 instead of 11 o'clock as announced
before.

Abbeville's Irish "Twins, Pat McCaslan
and Pat Roche, each announce
the marriage of the other on the
coming Thursday night. The names
of the bride's to be could not be secured,
Mr. McCaslan stating his
friend Pat Roche expected to marry
a lassie of twenty summers, while'Mr.
Roche claimed Friend McCaslan
was going down in the Everglades of
Florida to find his bride.
Mrs. Demp?ey't Will Probated
Columbia, Nov. 7.?The will of
Mrs. Lydia Anne Dempsey filed here
today for .probate disposeg of an
estate valued at $17000. Among the
beneficiaries is Miss Elizabeth Freed
of Newberry who is given $500.
One .thousand dollars is left to the
Ebenezer churrh here. She died on
October 18.

celebration Friday, the regular meet
ing of the Bridge club has boen postponed.
EVENING ENTERTAINMENT
'Mrs. Otto Bristow entertained the
Merrie Matrons last nteb at a dc?lightful
party to which were invited
the husband^ of the members of the
club. As special guests she had Maj.
and Mrs. Fulp, Mrs Hanford Hender
' son and Mrs. McKeltnaji, ana Messrs
Frank Harrison, W. D. Wilkinson
and Gottlob Neuffer. The Bristow
home wa3 decorated in yellow chrysenthetnirms,
Five tables of card
players were present, and the matrons
enjoyed the novelty of an
evening entertainment. A salad
course was served after the games.
A BARBECUE DINNER
When the American boys were in
France and there was no fighting to
be done, "chow" was the big interest
of the day. The "eats" will be
a big part of the May Friday when
a barbecue will be served as a part
of the Armistice Day celebration.
The barbecue will be in charge of
Mr. Jim Gilliam, and the serving will
be under the direction of Mrs. Foster
McLane and a committee of efficient
ladies. The coffee will be
made by Mrs. J. Allen Smith and
the salad and pickles will be contributed
by the salad experts of the
city. '
The dinner will be served from
12 to 3 and will be 40 cents a plate.
Two Minutes Suspension
