MRS. POWER ENTERTAINS
Mrs. J. R. Power entertained the
Bridge Club Wednesday afternoon
at a delightful meeting. Regular
members and invited guests made
up seven tables. The house was
beautiful in ageratum, zinnias and
ferns.
Refreshments of chicken and fruit
salad were served.

MRS. C. S. JONES HOSTESS
Mrs. C. S. Jones was hostess for
the Bridge Club at her home in the
city Friday afternoon. This was the
regular meeting and a good attendance
of members and a few invited
guests were present. The Jones
home home is very attractive, and
with the many colored fall flowers
used Friday it was unusally so. Mrs.
Jones served her guests a delicious
salad course, with hot rolls and
coffee.
THE ACE OF CLUBS.
Miss Mary Hill Harris entertained
the Ace of Clubs at her homo on
South Main street Thursday after
noon at a very pleasant meeung.
Mrs. Henry Hagerman of Greenville,
Mrs. Hanford Henderson, of
Augusta and Mrs. John Harris Jr.
assisted Miss Harris in receiving,
The home was charming in decorations
of white and pink dahilias.
Only the members of the club were
present, and after the game, Miss
Lillian Richey, one of the* October
brides to be, was presented with a
piece of linen. Refreshments of
salad with coffee, were served.
HONOR OF BRIDE-TO-BE.
Mrs. J. R. Nickles gave a bridge
party this afternoon in honor of
Miss Lillian Richey, an Abbeville
October bride. Mrs. Nickles issued
invitations to about sixteen guests,
and the Nickles home was beautiful
in decorations of golden rod. The
jride's table was fixed up in yellow
neline, and the chair for the future
bride was also decorated, with
ineline bows, white candles, with
the yefllow, were effective. The
score cards carried dainty bon bon
souvenirs, While Miss Richey was
presented with an exquisite silver
:andle stick by the hostess. Mrs.
Nickles served a salad course with
hot coffee.

j Notice is hereby given that the
General Election for, Representatives
in Congress will be held at the voting
I precincts fixed by law in the County
1 of Abbeville on Tuesday, November
17, 1922, said day being Tuesday following
the first Monday, as prescribI
ed by the State Constitution.
The qualifications for suffrage are
as follows:
Residence in State for two years,
in the County one year, in the polling
precinct in which the elector of'fers
to vote, four months, and the
j payment six months before any election
of any poll tax then due and
I payable. Provided. That ministers
jin charge of an organized church
i and teachers of public schools shall
ibe entitled to vote after six months'
I residence in the State, otherwise
| qualified.
Registration.?Payment of all tax|
es, including poll tax, assessed and
i collectible during the previous year.
The production of a certificate or the
receipt of the officer authorized to
collect such taxes shall be conclusive
proof of the payment thereof.
Before the hour fixed for opening
the polls Managers and Clerks must ,
take and subscribe to the Constitutional
oath. The Chairman of the
Board of Managers can administer
the oath to the other Managers and
to the_Clerk: a Notary Public must
administer the oath to Chairman.
The Managers elect their chairman
and Clerk.

opened at 7 o'clock a. m., and closed
at 4 o'clock p. m., except in the city
of Charleston, where they shall be
opened at 7 a. m. and closed at 6
p. m.
The Managers have the power to
fill a vacancy ; and if none of the
Managers attend, the citizens can
appoint, from among the qualified
voters, the Managers, who, after being
sworn, can conduct the election.
At the close of * the election, the
Managers and Clerk must proceed
publicly to open the ballot box and
count the ballots therein, and continue
without adjournment until the
. same is completed, and make a statement
of the result for each office, ,
and sign the same. Within three days
thereafter, the Chairman of the
Board, or some one designated by .
the Board, must deliver to the Commissioners
of Election the poll list, '
the box containing the ballots and
written statements of the result of j
the election. *
