SONDLEY AT DINNER f ] Col. Richard Sondley of Magazine Street invited in a few friends last evening to a dinner given in honor of the hillbillies from Level Land. The old hillbillies, .Walter Wilson ' and John Temple, ably supported by 1 the younger hillbillies, Messrs. Will son and Garwile, came down early, wearing their setback clothes, and wo^flro ; ICdu jf iwi After enjoying \ a fine dinner, which Corp. Kerr of Greenville i Street insisted was the exact' diet prescribed by his doctor, the game i of setback was enjoyed until late ; in the ereaing. The young hillbillies , went up against two of the most wobbling players of the city, and owing to the fact that their opponents played such an erratic game, j the Level Landers never could get their range, the score resulting in favor of the wobblers. But Cols.. Wilson and Temple were (v-fe fortunate. They said that if i ^ . Col. Kerr got what his doctor pre scribed, he was not ahead of them because they ate everything set before them in the subsequent game and swallowed the Corp. without buttering him. They pitched sometimes with one hand and at other ? times with the other, but always they put the ball over the plate, and generally got a strike-out. Col. Pat Roche says he took as poor a player as "old man Thomson" and cleaned up a crack team which was pitted against them. He thinks that Col. Sondley was trying to give the old hillbillies something easy, and is of the opinion that they should' have gone up against a stronger team. & Those invited to meet the artists ' from Level Land were: P. Clayton Underwood,! found guilty of the murder of Oscar Mitchell and sentenced to life imprisonment by Judge Hayne F. Rice at a recent term of sessions court. Underwood will remain in the county ja'il until 'the appeal is heard, probably in November. For the first time since 1914 a shipment of more than 1,000 gam J birds for stocking the game preserves of the west has come from , Europe to the United States. r NEWS FROM DONALDS A very happy wedding took p at (the Manse here on Satur evening1, Sept 23, when Lizzie 2 Poole,i became the bride of Raymond Ashley. Leith is the devoted and i supt. of the school. After spending several years the Moody Bible School, Chica taking a course to fit her for mission field, Miss Lila Martin is present enjoying a-vacation at h< Miss Martin is a very devoted earnest Christian, and does a gi deal of good wherever she is. Ev Monday evening at 4 o'clock in Methodist Church Miss Martin ' conduct a prayer meeting for benefit of all our people. She has been a very fait] worker in the Baptist church..1 groom Mr. Brown is one pf -the est and most popular young men Ware Shoals. He is a worker in Y. M. C. A. and has been assisl there for some time. He is a \ % devoted member of the Baj church and has often assisted pastor in meetings.
