"h? circus have to tug and pull ihe big top to roll it up for' to the next town, at least' "3Pt on the majestic Hagenbeck-Wal-' "itc* Circus which will appear in An-' ier>oa, Monday, September 25. T^7a season the circus has this la 1 ior performed by a machine and a1 ^irpAriL which saves much time and' wrork. The big tent is dropped to j the jjrouud after the final perform-! tr'.i.* and the workmen place the va-' f/rats flaps and ends in place. The I "spot*i" is then attached to one side I a? tent and rolls the big top onto ' ijfc, anih the resuit mat muui ww; xnc; febor is saved. FftXs is not the* only labor saving i ierice that the Hagenbeck-Wallace Clrcas carries. No longer do stakes sartt to be driven by man-power. 5tafce driving machines are now carded ini there is another machine aFfeith pulls them up, when ready for afee tearing down of the tent. The circus is carried on three ?f.o.'nc .ni,i mnf>h of the t>ara-1 m(p^uai > hum ^ _ >fro3ialia being placed on 70-foot steel flats. There are more than 1,000 joea. women and animals carried on S&ese. trains, besides the many bill^nsaers, programmers, bannermen, fflsfiere, press agents and others who travel on the advance cars. Axjjfther interesting fact pertainicg to the inner workings of the dries is that between 500 and 600 jauEds of beef are needed each day -to feed the animals. This great a.laaaai is separate from the many necessary in preparing the GisaJs uf the performers and workirjf erews. V SMITHVILLE V *. S ViAVVVVVV Mr. 4'. 0.
