With theMoss of Friday's game by i score of 4 to 2 to the Greenwood Smeralds the Electricians have stack ;d their arms, so far as games with Carolina League teams this, year are concerned. The season is over and :he last game has been played, in which the locals will figure. First ilace and a precious pennant has seen taken by them, and unless some exhibition games are arranged the lome team will repose on its laurels jntil next year. With the line-up shot to pieces by ;he absence of Major and Clyde Her :on, two of the star infielders and )therwise considerably changed the ocals were in little shape to meet jreenwood, groomed for a fray on vhich might depend their chances 'or second place in the league. GIHBONS Home Demonstration Agent for the Months of June, July and August. Summing up the work done in June, July and August by your County Home Demonstration Agent, we find that she has stressed con servation of food to a great extent. Mrs. Gibbons has had 50 calls for her assistance, and visited 58 farm women to give them help. Aside from these emergencies she has rot fail ed to meet her regular club meetings in which she has given 63 demon strations. In this way she has reach-1 ed 845 people in Abbeville County The Club Market proved success ful and there is an increased pro duction in gardening. This market is held three times a week and has sold $474.24 wx>rth of country produce during this time. Fall gardens are being planted, and creamery route in the county is profitable for those having cream for sale On July 27 to 29 a Short Course for Home Demonstration Club'mem bers was held at Due West Woman's college. The children brought enough food to last them three days. They received instruction from specialists from^ Winthrop College. Religious services were held each evening, be ing conducted by the pastois from Due West. A talk on health was made by the doctor. Manv nails have pome to the ncent to help the home women with their canning. These calls were answered by individual visits to the homes of the women. The drying of vegetables was also taught. In a remote section of the county Mrs. Gibbons was ask ed by a husband to teach his wife how to can tomatoes. Upon visiting the home the woman was very ap preciative and asked Mrs. Gibbons how much she charged for showing her how. She was then told that the Home Demonstration agents salary came irom a smau tax irom tne peo-1 pie. In this way her assistance could 1 be given to any one desiring it. Your cooperation will be appre ciated in advancing the work in Ab beville County. Vote for 0. D. Seay for state su perintendent of education.?adv. HANDS OUT REBUKE TO WIFE OF MINISTER I Judge Says Her Charges of Miscon duct Not Proved.?Gives Him A Divorce. Grand Rapids, Mich., Aug. 26.? Judge Major L. Dunham of superior court, today awarded a decree of absolute divorce to Melvin E. Trot ter, superintendent of the Grand Rapids City Rescue Mission and na tionally known evangelist. He dis missed the suit for separate main tenance brought by Mrs. Trotter. He held ilrs. Trotter's charges that her husband had been unfaithful and that he had treated her cruelly had not been substantiated by evidence. The court also held thei^ was no evidence to substantiate the charges of Mrs. Trotter that her husband I was the father of a child born in 4 July 1917 to Miss Florence Moody, secretary and bookkeeper at the Res cue Mission, or that he had "con ducted himself with other women in | an unbecoming manner." rne judge in nis opinion, aeciarea he believed Mrs. Trotter was actuat-. ed in filing her suit for separate maintenance by the fact "that she never has been able to persuade the defendant to confess that he was the father of the Moody child." The court also asserted Mrs. Trotter charged her husband with acts of al leged cruelty that "at the time they were committed, if they were com mitted, were overlooked by her and not regarded by her as of any sig nificance." The court, in his opinion, holds Mrs. Trotter herself was guilty of extreme cruelty by circulating stor ies to the effect that her husband jwas the father of the Moody child. : As permanent alimony Mrs. Trot !ter gets a home and an adjoining I house, rentals from which amount :to $125 a month. She also is given ;the furnishings of the Trotter home and $5,000 in cash. The Trotter es tate is valued at $85,000 or more. HOW THEY STAND.
