LOCALS LOSE GAME
IN ANDERSON THURSDAY
Electricians Knock Two Abbeville
Pitchers out of Box and Win
Game 11 to 4.
The account of the ball game in
Anderson yesterday is taken from
The Tribune:
A desperate ninth inning rally by
Abbeville here yesterday afternoon
failed to break down the long lead
Rlpptrieians had Diled ud
and the visitors took their medicine,
11 to 4. Abbeville scored once in the
first frame, when an error at the
Anderson third sack let Ervvin race
in, but were unable to duplicate the
feat until in the ninth when they ad
ded an insufficient trio of scores to
their single of the first game.
The hitting barrage of the locals
which set in early in the game and
continued throughout was the trick
that turned things against the vis
itors. A total of 14 hits were chalked
up during the game, four of which
were doubles and one a triple. The
slugging got Milan's goat in the first
inning and only in this portion of the
eame was he allowed to try out his
"ins" and "outs" on the Anderson
batsmen. In the second inning Allen
was sent to the mound and lasted
through the fourth, when E. Gallo
way took up his position on the
mound to stay during the remainder
of the game.
A heavy shower just before the
game made impossible a double head
er between the two teams, which was
to have begun at 3:30 o'clock. The
decision was at once made to play
but one game and it began around
4 o'clock. However, the field was,wet
throughout the game and soggy balls,
slick bats and a nasty, dirty slow
field greatly impeded the players dur
incr thp rnntpst. fair thouerh. for both

PEACHES HOLDING OWN
Chicago, July 13.?Peaches blush,
ed as they alone of the fruit and veg
etable parade pursued a steady course
in the markets during the last week,
Other marchers were out of line,
some staggering towards the side
where ultimate consumers watched
the procession with encouragement
the rest displaying a leaning for pro
ducers and middle men.
Watermelons wobbled along on
both sides of the line, staying for the
most part, however, on the side of
lower prices. They were down in eas-'
tern markets and up in Chicago.
