Philson went to Clinton to day to meet Mrs. Philson and the children who are retu^ing tfter a visit of two weeks to relatives in Columbia. Mrs. Francis Henry, Francis Hill, Jenrose and Neil E. Pressly are go ing to Winnsboro Sunday to be gone until Tuesday the 4th. They will be driven by John Calvert, who has par ticular business in Winnsboro. ANOTHER SHjOWER Mrs. Herman Wisby is giving a "shower" party this afternoon for Mrs. Lewis Starnes. i BALL AT COUNTRY CLUB I A large crowd attended the D. A. R. Ball given at the Country Club Wednesday evening, parties being present from Laurens, And erson, Greenwood and Newberry. The ball room at the club was decorated in red, white and blue bunting, with flowers and green stuff. Cool breezy rustling through the trees, the sound of running water, a touch of romance, add to this youth, good music and a smooth floor and the success of the evenine is assured. This was a par-1 ticularly pleasant dance. The patronesses were: Mrs. F. B. Gary, Mrs. J. D. Kerr, Mrs. J. A. Hill, Mrs. W. A. Harris and -Miss Nettie Ifcussell Cool and refreshing punch was served during the evening and the gaities lasted until four in the morning. MISS BOWIE ENTERTAINS Miss Mamie Bowie entertained | the Rook Club Thursday afternoon at the regular meeting. There were, four tables. The house was attrac-j tively decorated in nasturtiums and. daisied, and after the games a de-| licious salad course and all of the good things that go with it, was served with iced tea. KING-SMITH. . t A pretty wedding of unusual in terest to a large circle of friends "was that of Miss Odessa King and Mr. James LeRoy Smith of McCormick, which was solemnized Thursday af ternoon at 5 o'clock at the home of' the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. King, near Abbeville. The entire lower floor of the home was thrown together for the occa sion. In the living room where the ceremony was performed, a profus ion of shasta daisies was arrayed in French baskets, interspersed with ca thedral candles, while large white pedestals twined with smilax and holding immense baskets of ferns and daisies formed the ^ltar before which the marriage vows were taken. The wedding march from Lohen grin was played by Mrs. Herman Wisby and during the impressive ring ceremony which was performed by Rev. H. L. Weeks, "To A Wild Rose" was softly rendered. She was most attractive in a model of white organdie and carried an armful of pink roses. Next came the two little flower girls, Isabelle Kiner and Ethel Bowen wearing dainty white organdie dress es and carrying white baskets of pink roses, while the tiny ring bearer, Paul Bowen entered wearing a white sat- s in suit and carrying the ring on a j silver tray. 1 The bride entered with her moth- t er, who gave her in marriage.
