February 7th is the time limit in
which you can drive your 1921 or

Just One Week. That's how long
we ask you please to wait before
beginning your efforts to enforce the
motor vehicle license law, by requir

jyour jurisdiction to display 1922 li

"The only reason we ask such a
thing of you is that this department
has been delayed in getting out some
of the license plates for which appli
cations have been duly filed, this de
lay being occasioned by the failure
of manufacturers to make delivery of
plates as contracted for, and having
just received shipment completing!
our order it will probably be the lastj

Consequently, in order not to entail
a possible inconvenience or affnoy

applied but failed to receive license
plate within the time allowed by law
for securing registration and license,
we ask you to keep "hands off" un
til Wednesday, February 8 th, on
which date we hope you will go after
all delinquents hot and heavy.
Yon know we have to depend up
on the peace officers of the counties
and municipalities to enforce the
state motor vehicle license law. We
have not the men nor the funds
which would be required to emplo5
a sufficient force force to work in
every community of the state and
absolutely run down every violator
of the law. But the various peace of
ficers throughout the state, upon
whom rests responsibility for enforc
ing this law as fully as any other up
on the statute books, can by the ar
rest of perhaps a very few owners
bring about a wholesome respect for
and a generally careful observance
of the law's requirements.

which may be named Greenwood and
Charleston, have found it actually

pays to employ a man at the expense
of the county especially for the duty
of enforcing the moto? vehicle laws
and we believe all the counties might
profitably follow such a course. If
equipped with a motorcycle, such an
officer may also d'scharge the duties
of a traffic official most acceptably,
and while bringing about a more sat

other traffic regulations he may pro
duce revenue in excess of the expen

county.
"Persons who have already order

"will be required to show their stubs
or receipts for such order if theii
cars do not bear the new tags. If a
man ordered his tag during the monti:
of January, the showing of his re

have to suffer."
