Nickles attended the meeting yesterday in Columbia of the South Carolina Cotton Associa tion. Mrs. Joel Warren and Mrs. Mary Layfield went over to Greenwood to day and joined in the festivities ind ent to the welcome to Marshal Foeh. Mrs. R. E. Caldwell returned to her home in H&rtsville Tuesday af ter an extended visit to her sister Mrs. W. M. C., Miles Wilson of Augusta, Henry Wilson of Springfield and Walter Wilson of Spartnaburg are in Abbeville to attend the funeral services of their sister, Mrs. J. H. Ferguson. Todd of Laurens is at the .home of Dr. Kirkpatrick suffering from painful injuries received in an automobile accident. On last Sunday afternoon near the home of Mr. Al bert Power a car in which Mrs. Todd, her son, Mr. Drayton Todd, his wife and daughter were riding overturned Mrs. Todd, the mother, toeing the only one injured. She was taken at once to the home of Mr. Power and tenderly cared for until the arrival of Dr. Kirkpatrick, and Dr. Latimer. She sustained.several toad cuts about the face and other bodily injuries but !J.^i has no tractures. ine acciucm ia thought to have been caused by improper working of the steerage. Mrs. Todd is an elderly lady, a great sufferer from rheumatism both of which facts are greatly against the progress of her recovery. She was (brought to the home of 'Dr. Kirkpat rick where she is receiving every at tention from both himself and Miss Genevieve Hopkins, efficient nurse of Anderson who was called on the case. Mrs. Todd-is the mother-in-law b of Dr. Jas. Latimer and was on her way to this place to see her little grandson, "Toddy," when she met! e with the serious accident. J v Mr. Dewey Waters died, at his home near here Tuesday from an at tack of acute indigestion. Miss Gladvs Kennedy entertained about 25 of her friends in honor of her 11th birthday last Monday after noon at her home on Depot street. The little guests after engaging in games and merriment to their hearts' content were invited into the dining room which was beautifully decorated with ferns and cut flowers where a delightful sweet course was served, by Mesdames Kennedy and Eisemann, Misses Lula Kennedy and Frances Speer.
