The White Collar Man. it
Speaking of the socalled white col- n
ir man, one Abbevillian admits that
e could i)nce be so classed but when
e took *an inventory at the end of
even years of clerking and found A
hat he had only $7.50 and a trunk rc
ull of white collars and shirts he c<
hucked his job and "went to work." o
low he is working for himself and u
lthough not rich he says he is well tl
nough fixed to do as he pleases. A g
'ord truck is his principal reliance b
ti his business and he drives it dai- ^
y. He does not expect ever to be a b
lerk again, although he does not P
onsider that a reflection on the s
white collar man." y

Cotton Talk.
Immediately after the receipt in
bbeville this morning of the govern?
t
lent ginning report tnere was muca
amparing of figures and discussion
f possibilities. The government figres
were much larger than expecte'd,
le report indicating that the total
inned to November 1 was 6,646,136
ales, showing that 1,168,999 bales
'ere ginned in the two weeks period
eginning October 18. In the same
eriod last year 1,759,000 bales were
inned, only 590,000 more than this
ear. In the period from November
to 14th last year 1,380,000 bales
rere ginned, and if half of that numer
are ginned in the same period
liis year the total ,crop will be 7,21,136
bales. The figures announcd
today are in running bales and
ince the average weight of a bale alrays
decreases late in the season, it
? expected that the figures will not
e so large when the ginning report
? reduced to a basis of 500 pound
ales.
