CALHOUN FALLS ACTS S \S He citizens of Calhoun Falls and j * Magnolia Township, met in the Town |' H?H in Calhoun Falls, on the 9th., j * insL, and formed an association hav-1 iuc for its object the betterment of j the highways in this section in gen-1 <' ^ era], and to boost the proposition of j knflding a national highway from 1 Clinton to Macon, in particular. A large number of the people ofj this section were present, much en-J thnsiasm developed. Where the good f the County of Abbeville and Calkwrn Falls is an issue, the people of tti^^art of the County always stand nady to do their part in promoting tike welfare and prosperity of this tewn and county. The meeting was called to order Mr. E. M. Lander, temporary i ttaarman. Hon. J. M. Nickles, of Ab" ? Addresses were made by several ?f those present, and not a single Assenting opinion was expressed. ? A permanent organization was then formed, under the name of the Calhoun Falls'Hig&way Associanon. * The following officers were elect?i: Dr. Joseph Hicks, president, Dr. X V. Tate, vice-president, S. F. flBter&rd, secretary and treasurer. Br. J. V. Tate and Mr. E. M. Lander were elected delegates to the convention to be held at Clinton, on the of June, next. A committee composed of J. H. Misses Beth and Ethel Anderson attended Clemson commencement this week. They were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clinkslales. Leon, Jr., Isabel and John Philip Keaton returned with her and will spend sometime with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Keaton. Messrs George Gray and Albert Erwin were among those who graduated at Erskine College Tuesday. We hope they will find a'worthy place in the world that has been waiting for them these four years, ,and that they will always be successful. V., June 9.?A oiiiM was responsible for the surrender of John Bradshaw, charged with the killing ol a deputy sheriff of Cabel county, according to the story he told to the jailer at the county jail here yesterday. Bradshaw recently made his get-away and after hiding out for three days and nights, decided; to return to jaiJ rather than face the unknown terrors in the mountains of West Virginia.
