She says the Chautauqua is a big success this year and the people of Due West are enjoying it. Mrs. George Shirley and childfen, of Wilmington, N. C., are expected in the city Friday to spend the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. Whit Klugh. Mrs. W. 0. Cromer, of the Smith ville section, was in town Tuesday. HOME AGAIN Mildred McCombs is getting well again and has been taken from the County Hospital to her home in Fort Pickens. ON BUSINESS . Mr. E. M. Neuffer are in Atlanta today seeing after the welfare of Albert Henry, who con tinues to improve slowly. A GOOD BYE VISIT Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Burnett, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Burnett, Mr and Mrs. J. S. Eakin, and Mrs. Kate Ellis, of Greenwood were in Abbe ville Sunday spending the day with Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Eakin. Parker gave the last of the many delightful parties given in honor of Miss Eugenia Robertson, Tuesday afternoon. The house was very beautiful in its decoration of sweet peas and pink and white roses and about forty of the friends of the bride gathered to do her honor and to enjoy Mrs. Parker's hospitality. Both rook and bridge were played af ter which plates of salads, sand wiches, biscuits and tea with sherbet were served. Mrs. Parker presented the bride with a box of silk hose as a souvenir 01 zne pleasant occasion. THE MERRIE MATRONS. Mrs. C. P. Townsend was hostess at the regular meeting of the Menie Matrons Tuesday. This was the first party of the young bride in her own home and her guests were charmed with her house and her gracious cor diality. Fruit salad, nut bread sandwiches, tomatoes and tea were served. Mrs. Joe W. Everett- of Spartan burg was the guest of honor. MISS CHEATHAM'S PARTY. Miss Bessie Lee Cheatham was hos tess Monday afternoon to the friends of Miss Eugenia Robertson at a pleasant rook party. The house wa.s beautifully decorated and the brides' table was distinguished from the others by a' dainty cupid wearing a bridal veil. After the games Miss Cheatham served cream, strawberries and cake as refreshments. A PICNIC AT THE PARK Miss Lora Temple, -who teaches the Fonville school, brought her pupils to town today and they pic nicked at the city park. The children enjoyed the day and the dinner. MARRIED IN ATLANTA Mr. Andrew Bowie and Miss Em mie Mobley were married in Atlan ta Wednesday, March 27th., and im mediately after left for Columbus, Ga.. where they will visit for sever al days with the parents of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Bowie will come to Abbeville Saturday and will be given an old fashioned wedding dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bowie, the parents of the groom, near the city. Mr. Bowie is an employee of the Seaboard and will receive the sin cere congratulations of his friends on his happy marriage. ? A CHICAGO BABY. News was received in Abbeville Tuesday morning of the birth of a baby girl to Mr. 'and Mrs. Thos. F. Black in Chicago. The young lady ar rived Monday-night, April 25th and has been named Elizabeth Caroline. The many friends in Abbeville of Mr. and Mrs. Black send their warmest congratulations and wish for the parents and the little lady the best that is in life. Anderson, April 26.?The financial! status of two Anderson banks seemed j doubtful, and Stete Bank Examiner I James Craig took charge of the af fairs of the Farmers and Merchants, and Farmers Loan and Trust Com pany banks today and closed their doors.
