Mrs. A. S. Thomas has returned to
her home in Spartanburg after a

Mayor Mars and W. Joel Smith
went over to Laurens this week and
spent Sunday with Mrs. Mars and
Mrs. Smith who are visiting their
parents.
Messrs Charlie McKenzie and Ju
lius DuPre went to Saluka Sunday
and spent the day with their friend,
Mr. Joe Ferguson, talking over old
times.
Dr. C. C. Gambrell and Mr. Tom
Grant Perrin went to Wilhamston
Sunday. Mr. Perrin went to consult
a physician and Dr. Gambrell to be
with bis friend.
Mr. Prue Bell went to Antreville
Sunday. This was not a hunting trip
for he had time to look at the crops.
He says every fence corner is planted
in cotton.
Mr. J. S. Hammond is here from
Ware Shoals looking after a little
business. He says a man can live at
Ware Shoals if he gets the Press and
[Banner three times a week.

burg this week visiting for several
days with Mr and Mrs. J. F. Ed

position with the Southern Paving

at Chester, spent several days this
week with his parents, Mt. and Mrs,

children, who had spent the time with
their aunt, Mrs. Bird, home with
them.

ner. Mr. Mundy nas .just returned
I from a hospital in Anderson where he
lhad been for treatment and his

J. D. Fulp on Saturday afternoon in
compliment to Miss Eugenia Rob
ertson was a fitting close to a week of
unusual gaiety among the ladies. Mrs
Fulp also honored Mrs. C. P. Town
send, the table cards reading Link
Townsend, Feb. 17th and Robertson
Baskin, April 28th. The guests were
received in the hall by the two hon
oree's, Miss May Robertson, Miss
Georgie Ott, Miss Harriet Coan and
Mrs. Philson, and over the huose were
placed tables for cards and rook. The
games were lively and were enjoyecr
by the fifty ladies present.
Refreshment#^ of salads, sand
wiches, pickle and tea with sherbet
were served. " ;
FOR MISS ROBERTSON
.Mrs. W. G. Stephens and Mrs. W.
P. Wham were joint hostesses Fri
day afternoon at a charming party
in honor of Miss Eugenia Robert:
son. The party . was given at the
heme of Mrs. Stephens which was
made lovely for the occasion, the
porch, hall and living room being
decorated in roses. The dining room
was decorated with baskets of sweet
peas.
v A matrimonial charade, in which
all the guests of the afternoon took
part afforded the amusement of the
afternoon. The guests were then in
vited into the dining room Tjhere a
salad course followed by cake, straw
berries and cream wfcre served, af
ter which the place cards were re
newed and on each was a toast for
the bride, written in rhyme, and it
was a merry crowd who drank to the
wealth, health and happiness of the
bride.
As the truests withdrew from the
dining room a letter was handed the
bride which directed a treasure
quest at the end of which was found
a well filled traveling case.

be almost a grown lady for Saturday
she celebrated her eighth birthday

ed by the Abbeville Mill as manager
of the different club organizations
connected with the Welfare work at
the mill and will shortly begin the
discharge of her duties. There has
been no one at the community house
for some time and until a regular
worker can be secured Mrs. Shelly
will ODen the house three or four af
ternoonis a week and meetings of the
Mother's club, the (/amp Fire Girls
and similar organizations will be
