Greenville Street was a popula^ street Monday afternoon with the Presbyterians, one of the circles of the Ladies Society met with Mrs. T. G. White and Circle No. 2, with Mrs. W. H. White. Irt Circle No. 2 Mrs. M. H. Wilson was the leader and she had prepared a most pleasant pro gram The subject for the afternoon was "Our Ethiopean Neighbor" and Mrs. Wilson; had arranged that the j talk should be on the old fashion: "Black Mammy." Mrs. Marshall was present* as a special guest and re counted many < experiences with the "Mammies" of her young days, a type pf which is a thing of the past. DANCES Allen Haskell gave a very pleas ant dance to the young ltfdies of the city at his home last Friday night. There werei about eighteen couples who enjoyed the evening. The young ladies were in evening dress and looked lovelv while the young men needed no such "fixing" to mfake them' lo,ok handsome. < Mrs. John Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller Reese and Mrs. W. P. Greene chaperoned the young people. Mrs. Frank B. Gary opened her home to the young people of the city Friday who enjoyed a pleasant dance. This dance was fo,r the bene fit of the marker which is io be com memorate the last meeting of the Confederate Cabinet and a neat sum was realized and the young folks had a good time. Miss Elizabeth Jones gave a pleasant dance Monday night to her young friends. Albert Henry, who is known to his friends as the rich young ruler is sick at his home again.
