Lanford, two miles west of the city, near Camp Wadsworth, late this afternoon with two bullet holes in his head. The officers are searching tonight for Glenn Foster, another public car driver, who was seen with McDowell Tuesday afternoon. Foster has not .been seen since that time and has not been heard from by the mem bers of his family.The cars driven by the men were found standing at the railroad station here in the city this afternoon, where, it is said, they have been since Tuesday afternoon. There are those who advance the theory that Glenn Foster h&s also -been killed and tat his body will be found. Foster has a son 15 years of age, who says his father left home Tuesday afternoon with Guy Mc Dowell walking. ''n bb flBBDBBODDDBBB HARDING TAKES UP RAILROAD PROBLEM Subject Discussed Today With Two Authorities?No Decision Made Washington, April 1.?Questions involved in the formulation of an administration program to deal with rail transportation were discussed by President Harding today with E. E. Clark, chairman of the inter state commerce commission, and R. M. Barton, chairman of the railroad labor board. The heads of the two government agencies brought to the conference 1 at Mr. Harding's request detailed data about wages, rates, earnings and other subjects. The meeting was a preliminary step to a thor ough investigation which Mr. Hard j ing proposes to make in the immedi ate future. He has let it be known that he regards the railroad prob lems as involving many serious fac tors in its relation to general indus trial health of the nation. The two chairman were with the president more than two hours but afterwards declined to discuss the situation or to predict what form the administration re-construction pro gram would take. Mr. Harding is said to have em phasized that he desired to make no recommendations that might be in terpreted as going over the heads of the government agencies which deal with the railway question. One subject before the confer ence was a statement yesterday by the Association of Railway Execu tives declaring that the principal roads operate at a loss of more than a million dollars during January. This was considered in connection with the best available information forecasting what earnings might be expected during the coming months, Chairman Clark is understood to have detailed the shipping situation reviewing recent rate decisions of the commission as well as some| which are in contemplation. At both the White House and the state department visit M. Viviani was accompanied by Ambassador Jusserand, and according to state ments by officials at their conclusion the former premier's visit remains nothing more than 'one of courtesy' It was intimated by those attached to his mission, however, that as >an envoy from France he Avould give an attentive ear to any suggestions in volving the relations of France with the United States. The only formal anouncement ,was one issued at the White House after the conference with President Harding, which said: "That M. Viviani called to pay the compliments and utter the good wishes of the president of France to the president," and added that he 'emphasized the desire of France to continue the friendship between the two republics and expressed grati tude to America for the great things done since his previ^s visit." Formal announcement was also made that President Harding would give a dinner at the White House in honor of M. Viviani's visit on April The conference which was attend ed also by Under Secretary Fletcher lasted an hour and a half and later Secretary Hughes called at the hotel where M. Viviani is stopping, to re turn the visit. The ' only comment Mr. Hughes would make was an ex pression of pleasure in the former French premier's visit and at the op potunity of renewing an old ac quaintanceship. M. Viviani intends to go to Bal timore tomorrow with Ambassador Jusserand to attend the funeral of Cardinal Gibbons.
