Prof, and Mrs. David Henry are spending the holidays in Abbeville. The Professor isn't losing any flesh over the "deflation" fn prices, being a -salaried man, he says he is begin ning io ive again after several lean years. Miss Maudelle Powell, of Pansy, fia.. will arrive in the citv this after noon to spend several days with Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Williamson. Miss Powell has many friends and admir ers in the city who will welcome her back in Abbeville for even a short stay. SIX O'CLOCK DINNER. One of the most elaborate dinings of the Christmas season was the six course dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Miller Monday evening at their home on North Main Street to a few of their friends. The house was beau tifully decorated with holiday colors, and the dinin-room was specially pretty. Those enjoying Mr. and Mrs. Miller's hospitality were: Misses Rosa and Eva Seawright, of Columbia; Miss Rebecca Crawford, Washington, D. C.; Miss Verner Seal, Greenwood; Misses Annie, Louise and Elizabeth Bell, Lowndesville and Miss Julia Pennal; Messrs^tHarence and Tom Crawford, T. V. Miller, Due West; Glenn Basl^in, Honea Path; Will Reid and Claude Green. HUGHES-CLAMP. Miss Sarah Hughes and Mr. John J. Clamp, both of this city, were quietly married Friday evening, Dec. 24th at 9 o'clock at the A. R. P. par sonage by the Rev. M. R. Plaxco. Only a few friends witnessed the ceremony. For the present Mr. and Mrs. Clamp are making their home of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Botts in Fort Pickens. Kerr opened their new home last Friday night and entertained at a dance complimentary to their son, Mr. Davis Kerr, a young Washington and Lee student who is home for the holidays. The house wa? gay with Christmas decorations and the young people spent an enjoyable evening dancing. The dancing was kept up until after twelve and Christ mas was an actual fact. Hot chocolate and fruit cake was served throughout the evening. Christmas night Miss Mildred Cochran gave a lovely tea to some of her young friends. There were pres ent Miss Helen Graham, of Colum / bia, Miss Mary Hill Harris, Miss Vic Howie, Miss Howard Hill and Miss Mary Greene. The time was spent in the enjoyment of the lovely supper served, in music and conversation. Miss Mildred is an accomplished violinist and played for her guests. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon White enter tained a family party at supper Sat urday night in compliment to Dr. and Mrs. Bonner White and Mrs. Brickman who were over from Atlan ta for the holidays. Judge and Mrs. Frank B. Gary entertained at a stag dinner for their son l^rank, Christmas 'night. ! There were present, Messrs Andrew Hill, Weber Wilson, Davis Kerr and ! Billy Bradley. A lovely course dinner was served and greaty enjoyed by the young peope. Frank had only a short leave and he returned to the N^val Academy Sunday afternoon. One of the pleasantest parties of the Christmas season was that given y Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Williamson Tuesday night at their home on Greenville street. The house was pretty in its Christmas decorations and the scheme was a gay and ani mated one. There were seven tables of players and set back was the game enjoyed. Plates of salads, with mints and coffee were served at the close of the games. This party was in the way of cele brating the third marriage anniver sary of Mr. and Mrs. Williamson and they received the warm congratula tions and good wishes of their friends. E Harri son, Mr and Mrs. Stark, Mrs. Thos. L. Davis and Miss Fannie Stark. ! Miss Mary Nickles gave a delight ful party Tuesday night to the boys and girls home from the different colleges. Christmas colors predomina ted in the decorations, mistletoe, holly and Christmas bells being used in profusion. Big bowls of marsh mallows were placed around with hat pins conveniently near and the guests made merry over toasting them before the open fire. Some of the guests played rook while others danced the evening away. The party-was a most enjoyaw* affair. Mrs. James Chalmers entertained the sub-debs of society Wednesday afternoon at her home on WardJaw 'street, the occasion being the seven teenth birthday of her pretty daugh ter, Miss Celia Chalmars. Rook was played by the twenty young people present, all of whom wish for the young lady many more happy birth days and a long continuation of her youthful charms. Salads were served at the close of games. Chief Justice and Mrs. Eugene R. Gary are entertaining tonight at a six o'clock dinner, inviting their rela tives to meet Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Tusten who are here from New York. Miss Virginia Leslie has issued in vitations to a party at her home to night. The young people always have a good time at the Leslie's.and they are looking forward to the party. A dance will be given tonight at the Eureka and promises to be a pleasant affair.
