FOR HOLIDAYS I Major and Mrs. J. D. Fulp and 40ns, James and John Richard, and Miss Ott left Saturday for Fort Mill to spend the holdiays with rela tives. MANi\'ING-DARRACOTT. Manning and a young woman of many accomplishments. Mr. Darracott is with Co-Operative Mercantile Com pany of this city and is popular with our people. BIRTHDAY PARTY. The rooms were bright with Christ mas bells and holly and a small Christmas tree stood in the center of. the table and as each little guests name was called she received a tiny red stocking filled with candy. # THE MIDNIGHT REVELLERS Miss Clara Harrison was hostess to the Midnight Revellers Club Fri day night. Th&. following were pres ent: Misses Eva and Sophia Reames, Pearl Hagen, Sydelle Graves, Wil helmina Riley, Bertha Hall, Marion Wilson, Dorothy Syfan, Ruth Wood kurst, Ethel Perry and Annie Belle Little; Messrs. Julian Roche, Henry Bell Reed Ashley, John Armour, Al bert Leslie, TruWian Reames, Gil Bam McLane, Frank Roche,. Olin Crowley, Ernest Russell, and James Bradley. The parlor was beautifully decorated with festoons of green and red fom the four corners of the room to the electrolier, which was shaded with red shades and hung with mistletoe. Mistletoe and holly was also banked on the mantel ?the whole suggestive of the Christmas spirit. After enjoying guessing contests of several kinds till the midnight hour, fruit cocktail and cakes were served. DESTROY TWO STILLS Walhalla, Dec. 19.?B. R. Mtiss, state constable, and Jake Ciosnell, deputy collector, destroyed two large blockade distilleries in the western portion of the county this week. The officers spent several days in this section and gave almost every valley and hollow the once over and were rewarded for their labors by destroy ing two well equipped plants. No arrests were made. REDUCTION OF WAGE. Trion, Ga., Dec. 19.?The Trion cotton mills, which have been op -- erating only eight hours a week for the past month, announced today that beginning Monday the plant will be placed on a 55 hour a week basis, bat at a 40 per cent, reduction in wages, the cut to apply to all branches of the business. WHOLESALE PRICES LOWER fHAN BEFORE i Washington, Dec. 18.?Wholesale prices 01 commodities were lower last month than at any time since the war, according to figures announced today by the department of labor. The wholesale scale dropped 8 per cent, more in November than in the preceding month and 24 per cent be low the peak of high prices last May: the bureau says. Ci the 326 commodities used in the comparison of November and Octo ber wholesale prices 198 showed a de crease while 41 showed an increase, In 87 cases there was no change. Building materials registered a drop of 12 1-2 per cent, in November and farm products were second with a drop of 9 1 4 per cent. Clothing costs dropped 9 per cent, while food products dropped 4 1-2 per cent. Within the last year wholesale food prices have dropped 11 per cent the bureau reports and ciotning nasi gone down 28 per cent, while farm' products show a decrease of 31 per cent. An average drop of 10 per cent in the wholesale prices of all com modities was registered, as com pared with November 1919. PINK BOLL WORM QUARANTINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED T Washington, Dec. 18.?Extension of the pink boll worm quarantine to inciuca; state of New Mexico was announced today at the Department of Agriculture.
