At the same time as other taxes are ollected a license of one dollar and =venty-five cents will be collected on 11 dogs. A dog tag will be furnished y the Treasurer to each owner payig license. Parties desiring information bv iail in regard to their taxes will lease write before Dec. 16th, statig the location of their property and lclude postage for reply. AN ACT 'o Provide an Annual Dog Tax For The State of South Carolina anci a Penalty for Not Pay'ng Said Tax. Section 1. BE IT ENACTED by he General Assembly of the State of louth Carolina. That from and after he passage of this Act thefe shall bejvied on all dogs, six months old or Ider, in the State of South Carolina n annual tax of one dollar and tweny-five ($1.25) cents per head. Section 2. That upon the payment f said annual tax of one dollar and wenty-five ($1.25) cents by the ownr of any dog in the State, the Couny Treasurer shall issue to the said wner a receipt therefor and a met1 tax marked "Dog Tax" and the ear for which it is issued. Each !ounty Treasurer shall keep a numeral record of every dog taxed and in ddition thereto furnish to the owner f each dog such number stamped on he metal tag. Which tax shall be levjd and paid to the County Treasurr, as other taxes are paid: Provided, urther, That this tax shall be excluive of all other license taxes, either luniciDal or otherwise. Provided, 'hat ail such taxes collected here uner shall be credited to the schools of he School District from which it is ollected, to be used in support of the chools of the District: Provided, furher, That said tax shall become due nd payable at the same time State nd County taxes becc\me 'due and iayable. Section 3. That every owner of a ( log shall be required to collar and i ilace the aforesaid dog tag upon the j aid collar. Except when such dog! hall be used for the purpose of hunt-! ng, when such dog shall be upon a j hase or hunt. Section 4. Any person . owning,' larboring or maintaining a dog.i ailing or refusing to return and pay he tax aforesaid, shall be deemed Miilt.w nf n midpmpannr and. unon onviction thereof, shall be fined not ess than five ($5.00) dollars nor nore than twenty ($20.00) dollars,! >ne-half of which shall go to the per-' ;on reporting said failure to pay said ax, and one-half to the pu,blic school 'und in which such derelict occurs.
