Thompson, of Pell City, Ala., came to Abbeville Saturday , night and spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. Foster Barnwell, on Greenville i Street. He always feels at home on that street he says. Col. Thompson , had beeh to Greenville where he 'attended the big cotton meet last week. Col. Thompson is a pleasant man to meet always, and especially when he makes a prediction about the price of . -cotton, because he believes as strongly as Dale Barksdale that "it will go higher." But he warned us, 'This is E. A: talking, and his talk is not "= worth anymore than anybody's else." The Colonel is a great man for sport and out in Alabama he enjoys himself farming.' He says he is producing cotton, corn, hogs,-peanuts, chickens and experience, and that his | crop of experience is a little larger than any of the other crops and a little more costly, but he doesn't mind i that when he considers the fun.. He J raises no goats, he says. He did not | say who is the goat at the end of the ! year when cotton is low. !?. | AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. ? r j Rev. Frank Ligon, of' Henderson.Ville, N. C., preached in the Presbyte! rian church here Sunday morning and | evening. I | A TENDER-HEARTED KING. i '' . i ; King George of Cotton Row - tells | I us that we made a little mi^ake and ] he desires us to correct it. He says | that Mr. Williamson promised him a 'job at the ^ievf warehouse but hasn't given it to him yet, though he hopes j he may yet receive the position. Hf says, though, if he does not, he will not sue Mr.-Williamson as he understands Mr. Williamson has cotton, and he certainly sympathizes "with a nfen with coton on his hands. He says he would not sue Mr. Williamson for running over him with an automobile. * ? *11 _ A !.i! U..(.
