47TH REUNION OF ORRS REGIMENT Due West, Aug. 24.?This Regiment was made up of the flower of the State in '61; 2 Companies from Abbeville, 3 from Anderson. 1 from Oconee and 1 from Marion County. Those who were 18 then, would now be 77 years old, and it is not strange that its grey lines are very thin, yet it is surprising how ^ sprightly some of these men step forward under the weight of eighty years and more, '"Backward, turn backward, 0 Time in your flight." r?~' ~ 4-U^v WOQ+VlPT LllC Uiixavviacriw ?? ^ about thirty answered roll call, in s the auditorium of Erskine. Comrade W. T. MaGill of Walhalla presided. The address of welcome was made by Dr. Moffatt, President of , Erskine, and responded to by Rev. L. C. Campbell of Belton, who was a Corporal in 61. Amors those seated on the platform was Judge A. R. ^ Ellis of Due West, who is the only surviving member of Co. "G". now living in Due West, who marched away fifty nine years ago. A very cordial reception was given the old soldiers by the large crowd present. The auditorium was t draped with Confederate and U. S. Flags and a1 large portrait of Gen. R. E. Lee stood in the centre. The ^ Magill Orchestra furnished music, and the old airs were cheered again \1 as of old. James Magill, father of the leaders of this band was not a member of Orr's Regiment, but waS a Lieut, in the 19th S. C. Infantry. The Regiment failed to secure a , speaker for the occasion, but short speeches were" made by the presid4 ing officer, and by Dr. Moffatt, and others.
