On Old Educational Building Site Anderson, July 27.?The Univer-i ity sanitarium was formally opened j .'hursday afternoon, although the | anitarium has been receiving pa-l^ ients for some weeks. The addi-i '? 1 c ion of this splendid hospital to the ! J omn^unity is due to the energy and T inthusiasm of Dr. A. L. Smethers, vho came here about 20 years ago rom Pennsylvania. The hospital is on the site of the Id Johnson university, and in the 1 milding which was used for the >oarding pupils of many schools. { rhe last time it was the barracks of! he Patrick Military institute. Thisjroperty was bought by Mrs. Carrie J tfcCully and has been used for a esidence. Dr. John E. White ^ >rought this home influence out in i" lis talk at the opening exercises, I ind said that the home spirit had j >een built into this hospital, and the 'amily life, and home life would put.^ nto it a spiritual element of com-i fort to every patient.
