is lady principal of Carey

the lads turned up at the Perrin
home in time for breakfast this
morning. But it a sure enough
spend-the.day affair and must not
be confused with ordinary birthday
parties.
The guests were served a regular
birthday dinner topped off with a
quart each of fresh peach ice cream
and announcemnt was made at the
conclusion of the feast that all
would be expected to return at 8
o'clock in order that the end of a
perfect day might culminate in a
visit to the movies.
Lad's friends remembered him
bountifully and he received all
sorts of presents from a Palm
Beach suit to a pair of bantam
chickens.

I son Johnson is entertaining the Mer
rie Matrons at cards at her pretty ^
home on Greenville street. The matrons
always have a pleasant: party ^
and Mrs. Johnson is a charming hostess.
THE BOOK CLUB.
The regular meeting of the book
club was held Wednesday afternoon
with Mrs. W. E. Johnson. There was
the average attendance of members
and Mrs. L. J. Bristow and Miss Sallie
Gossett were present as guests.
New books are being ordered and
will be enjoyed for the next year.
Salads and tea were served.

came as a surprise to the friends of
the young couple in Dublin as it 1
did to relatives and friends in Abbeville.
The Dublin Courier-Herald has
the following to say of the marriage:
"As quite a surprise to their many
friends came the wedding last evening
of Miss Loiuse Beacham and Mr.
Pat Roche both of this city. This
interesting event took place at the
home of the parents of the bride, Mr.
and Mrs. James H. Beacham on
Bellevue Avenue.
"The bride was lovely In a goingaway
gown of midnight blue cloth
with hat and shoes to match. Immediately

and Mrs. Roche left via auto for Atlanta
and Abbeville, S. C., wnere they/

"Mrs. Roche is a very charming
and pretty young woman, an attrac-J

Mr. Roche is a son of our esteemed
townsman, Col. Patrick Roche, of
Cambridge Road. He was emicated in'
the public schools here, ana learned
the Oil Mill business with Southern
Cotton Oil Company. His enterprise
