A telegram to southern division
headquarters of the Red Cross states
that King Alphonso was passing thru
the lobby of the Hotel Meurice in
Paris when, he was attracted to the
booth .where Mrs. Lewis was enrolling
a party, of Americans that had just
arrived.
The telegram quotes the king as
saying': "I have known of the work
of the Red Cross for a long time and
I would esteem it a great privilege
if I could also be a member," and
Mrs. Lewis as replying: "i am sure
every American will be very glad to
receive this compliment as indorse'V
