is being hunted the world over. Never

from the law been hunted so thor.

. Dr. Williams states that replies
. from parts of the globe have been

Dr. Williams states that

i Vaughan's escape is one of the

that is keeping police officials of the'
globe guessing.
This is Vaughan's second escape.]
The first time he escaped in a some
what similar fashion from the Green*
ville jail, and was discovered months
afterwards in Baltimore by R. E. Allen
of Greenville and recently of the
faculty of Chicora College in Columbia,
who had him arrested.
Vaughan was convicted of criminal
assault on several girls, inmates
of the orphanage of which he was the
head. The crime was one of the most
revolting the State as ever prosecuted.
He entered a plea of insanity,
after being sentenced to die in the
electric chair. He was adjudged insane
and sent to Columbia where he
was lodged in the StaV2 Hospital. A
few months ago a sccond sanity commi.-.r.on
examine'! him ' and decided
that he was mentally wrong. /

Their MedicineXI
IT is characteristic of
folks After they pass the allotted
v "three score years and ten," to look
xhack over the days that are gone
and thoughtfully live them over.
I find myself, at seventy-one, frequently
drifting back a quarter of a century, when
I see myself in the little drag store I owned
at Bolivar. Mo., making and eelling a i
vegetable compound to my friencla and
customers?what was then known only as I
Dr. Lewis' Medicine for Stomach, Liver
and Bowel Complaints.
For many years while I was perfecting my
formula 1 studied and Investigated the
laxatives and cathartics on the market and
became convinced that their main fault
was not that they did notact on the bowels,
bnt that their, action was too violent and
drastic, and upset the system of the user;
which was dao to the fact that they were
not thorough enough in their action, some
simply acting on the upper or small intestines,
while others woula act only on the
lower or large intestines, and that tbey
almost invariably produced a habit requiring
augmented doses.
I believed that a preparation to produce I
the best effect must first tone the liver, 1
then act on the stomach and entfra alimen- 1
tary system. If thiB was accomplished, the
medicine would produce a mild, bnt
thorough elimination of the waste without
the nsual sickening sensations, and make
the user feel better at once. (
different com pounds, I tt Jut perfected the
formula that is bow known as MsUmi'i
Wwiiy, which I truly believe goes further |
